So sorry I’ve left comments in the queue a whole week. Apart from all the stuff keeping me busy to the very wire (as I noted a day or two ago), I really, really wanted to get my review of Maurice Casey’s anti-mythicist’s book posted tonight. So I’ve been reading and annotating it nonstop every spare moment this week and most of today. And now I just realized the time. And alas this terrible book is driving me crazy. I can’t endure the tedious stream of consciousness awful of it any longer. I need to put it down and do other things for a bit. I have my weekend free so I’ll try to get it done by Monday or sooner. But I thought I’d throw this up to at least explain what’s going on. I’m going to try and clear the moderation queue tonight. So any good comments you’ve been waiting forever to see post, at long last they shall!
P.S. The last half of the proof for OHJ didn’t arrive as promised, so I’m hoping that will come early next week. Want. That. Done.
RC: “And alas this terrible book is driving me crazy.”
I’d like to tell you it gets better, but even the memory of it makes me queasy.
It actually did get better. I mean, it went from a 1 out of 10 to a 3. That has to count for something. (?)
Richard, does the following feature in the OHJ?
The historical Jesus : a comprehensive guide / Gerd Theissen and Annette Merz?
Surely not in the casey mould

I’m not sure what you mean, but as to the second point I will assume you are asking if my book on par with the godawful structure and quality of Casey’s, in which case I can say in point of fact conspicuously not (thank the imaginary gods). As it happens my extensive analysis of that point is now online. On the first point, I reference Theissen/Merz, but it contains nothing worth addressing not already in Van Voorst, whose contents I effectively address where relevant, even if not always explicitly citing him.
Richard:
Keep up the good work. I can’t wait for the book.
Many Christians, unfortunately, lack a sense of humor. Whenever I meet one of those I tell him that I know that the resurrection is true because of the poem that proves it. When asked what poem I recite the following:
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up into the sky he arose,
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he flew out of sight,
Happy Easter to all, and to all a good night!
This seems to me as good a proof is any other evidence I’ve heard. But maybe I have something wrong here.
Jesus Christ, Easter bunny, and Santa Claus remain my three favorite imaginary friends.
Keep up the good work!
